A small step you can take today

That saved voicemail deserves another copy.

A birthday message. An everyday hello. Keep a copy you can find and play outside your voicemail app.

1. Save the audio you already have

On iPhone, open the voicemail in the Phone app and use its share option. Choose a file-saving destination offered on your phone. For Voice Memos, open the recording's options, choose Share, then Save to Files.

On Android with Google's Phone app, expand the voicemail and use Share. The available options depend on your phone, carrier, and voicemail service. If there is no export option, ask your carrier for help before switching phones or services.

2. Name the copy and listen to it

Use a name you will recognize, such as “Dad — birthday message — 2024.” Open the saved file outside the voicemail app. Listen through to the end. Check that it is the message you meant to keep.

3. Keep another copy somewhere separate

Copy the audio to a trusted computer, drive, or private backup location that you can access. Check that this copy plays too. Keep the original voicemail; do not delete it simply because an upload appears complete.

A cloud link is not the same as an independent audio file. An archive download is a point-in-time copy: make another after adding important memories.

Give it a place in your family archive

Only keep and share recordings you have permission or the right to use. Choose what your family may hear. Veralore cannot recover a file that has already been lost.

After downloading your Veralore archive

  1. Keep the ZIP, then extract it to a folder.
  2. Open index.html and play the recordings from that folder.
  3. Read verification.json for the file count, checksums, and any missing files. An incomplete download needs another attempt.
  4. Store another copy separately and revisit it after important additions.
